The tradition of celebrating Children's Week in the world and in our country is very long, and at
the initiative of the Friends of Children of Serbia, which is a longtime organizer of this event, it
is defined by the Law on Social Care for Children and today it is in the Law on Financial
Support of Families with Children. Children's Week is celebrated so that children would remain
at the center of social efforts for them to be happy, protected, to live in a healthy and safe
environment in which they can reach their maximum potential. At the same time, Children's
Week is an opportunity for full participation of children in societal life, according to their age,
desires and possibilities. Children's Week focuses on the promotion and protection of children's
rights by dealing with the most current topics.
